Bhopal, April 24 -- Sensing a possible reprieve amid ongoing protests at JP Hospital, ousted employees of Hamidia Hospital turned to the Collector's office on Tuesday to press for their demands.

On January 20, some 270 employees were abruptly dismissed from Hamidia Hospital. The Department of Medical Education attributed the mass termination to overstaffing and budgetary constraints, sparking a protest at the hospital.

Now, the dismissed staff have approached the Collector, hoping for intervention. In a letter, they claimed their salaries had been withheld for four months, making it difficult to run their households.

They further alleged that they were terminated not because of budget issues but because they demanded their rightful dues....
