New Delhi, June 14 -- Former Union Minister and Governor Kalraj Mishra on Friday said that the idea of 'One Nation, One Election' will not only make Indian democracy stronger but also help in speeding up the country's development.

The statement came during an event organised by the Radheshyam Charitable Foundation. Calling the proposal important for India's future, Mishra said the idea goes beyond politics and should be seen as a national need.

"This is not about one party. It is about the nation. Holding elections at the same time across the country will make policy planning easier and reduce both the cost and pressure on manpower," he said.
