Ranchi, May 21 -- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested former Jharkhand Excise Secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey, a senior IAS officer along with Excise Department official Gajendra Singh. The arrests are connected to allegations of a liquor syndicate operating out of Chhattisgarh, which reportedly exerted undue influence on Jharkhand's excise policies.
Choubey was first detained and questioned at his residence early on Tuesday, while Singh was brought to the ACB office for questioning. Following intensive interrogation, they were formally arrested and subsequently presented before ACB special court that sent them to judicial custody till June 3.
