India, Dec. 27 -- The National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended 2025 on a strong note, reporting sustained growth across equity markets, fund mobilisation, investor participation, and global operations despite global economic headwinds. Stock markets in India remained stable during the year.

According to NSE's Annual Highlights for Calendar Year 2025 (data up to December 19), the benchmark Nifty 50 index rose 9.8 per cent during the year from 23,645 at the end of 2024 to 25,966 while the market capitalisation of listed companies increased 6.8 per cent to Rs469 lakh crore. The market cap-to-GDP ratio remained steady at 136 per cent. This shows continued confidence among investors and steady wealth creation.
