India, Jan. 29 -- India marked a significant milestone in aviation self-reliance at Wings India 2026 in Hyderabad as Timetooth Technologies unveiled Altura RA, the country's first indigenously developed and ITSO-certified aircraft passenger seat. Awarded by DGCA Director General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, the certification ends India's complete dependence on imported aircraft seating and opens a nearly $900-million domestic market. Designed for the HAL-built Hindustan-228 aircraft, the seat offers a 15-20 per cent weight reduction while meeting global safety and quality standards, reinforcing India's push towards 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and high-value aerospace manufacturing.
