India, Dec. 25 -- Management Development Programme (MDP) for Senior Supervisors of Northern Railway was instituted on 28th August'1985. This is an essential aspect of Human Resource Development in Indian Railways; aimed to develop the Managerial skills of supervisors in such ways that they are able to bring about positive changes in management practices at their respective level and also contribute to increased manpower productivity.

These programs are being held regularly every year. Since inception, 373 MDP courses have been organised and 14534 Supervisors across all Departments of Northern Railway have been trained so far.
