RAIPUR, March 20 -- The notification for filing nominations for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh will be released on Wednesday, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.
The Naxalites' hub Bastar will be the first area to see balloting on April 19.
Candidates can file nominations from March 20 to 27. They will be scrutinized on March 28. Withdrawals will be accepted until March 30.
Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said all necessary arrangements are being ensured for free, fair and peaceful elections.
Four polling stations, comprising a total of 1,961 auxiliary polling stations, have been established in the region.
