Bhopal, March 10 -- For nine refugees from Sindh, Pakistan, the long wait for Indian citizenship ended in an emotional moment at the historic Golghar complex in the state capital on Sunday.
With certificates in hand, the newly naturalised citizens chanted "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," their voices filled with relief and celebration. As sweets were passed around, a deep sense of belonging took hold-after years of uncertainty, they had finally found a home.
Member of Parliament Alok Sharma, who handed over the certificates, called the event a moment of justice. "Smile, you are now citizens of India!" he declared, emphasising that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) had not just granted them legal status but restored their rights.
