India, Sept. 9 -- The death toll has risen to 19 in Nepal following violent clashes, as mass demonstrations erupted over the Government's ban on social media platforms. The escalating crisis has prompted Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to tender his resignation, citing moral responsibility for the loss of lives.

Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on Monday, demanding the immediate restoration of access to platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and X (formerly Twitter). These platforms have been inaccessible in Nepal since Friday, after the Government blocked 26 unregistered sites, claiming national security and regulatory concerns. The move, however, has triggered widespread anger, confusion and accusations of censorship.
