India, Feb. 4 -- The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Tuesday inducted two CNG-operated Mechanical Road Sweepers (MRS) in Connaught Place. The initiative aims to strengthen road-cleaning operations in high-footfall and high-security areas while addressing concerns related to air and dust pollution.
The machines were inaugurated by NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal, who said the induction of CNG-based sweepers would enhance the efficiency of road-cleaning operations and contribute to improved air quality. The new sweepers form part of NDMC's broader plan to expand mechanised sweeping across its jurisdiction, particularly in areas that witness heavy traffic and large pedestrian movement.
