Baghpat, May 26 -- A long-forgotten chapter of Partition-era history came to a close this week in Kotana village, Baghpat district, as land once belonging to the family of former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf was sold off as enemy property for Rs 1.38 crore. The auctioned land - about 13 bighas of fertile agricultural plots - was bought by local businessmen and formally registered in their names, cutting all legal ties of the Musharraf family to Indian soil.

The land, originally owned by Musharraf's brother Dr Javed Musharraf and other family members, had been lying unused for decades and was declared enemy property nearly 15 years ago by the Custodian of Enemy Property for India (CEPI) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
