India, Oct. 20 -- In an important policy shift aimed at tightening oversight and ensuring uniformity in Government schools, the Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to directly purchase and supply school uniforms for nearly 55 lakh students across the State.
Notably, this decision has been taken despite the fact that this experiment already failed drastically around 15 years ago, during the tenure of then minister Archana Chitnis.
The move will mark the end of the existing system where parents or guardians received funds to get the uniforms stitched on their own.
