Bhopal, Aug. 20 -- Madhya Pradesh is preparing for a change at the top of its bureaucracy with Chief Secretary Anurag Jain scheduled to retire on August 31.
Jain, a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has had a long and distinguished career and unless the government grants him an extension, the state will soon have to appoint a new Chief Secretary.
The likely successor, according to bureaucratic circles, is Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Alka Upadhyaya, who belongs to the same 1990 batch. If the government continues the recent practice of adhering to seniority, Upadhyaya is considered the natural choice.
Her retirement is due on May 31, 2027, which would give her a stable three-year tenure to head the administration. Sh...
