India, Oct. 28 -- As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that the deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal had intensified into a cyclonic storm and was likely to make a landfall in the Andhra-Odisha coast, causing heavy to very heavy rainfall in large parts of Bengal the State Government made elaborate preparations and asked the administration to remain on high alert.
As the weatherman urged fishermen not to venture into the Southwest-adjoining-central Bay of Bengal, along and off Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts till Wednesday, similar orders were issued for the fishermen in Bengal too officials said.
