Bhopal, June 17 -- The long-awaited southwest monsoon made its entry into Madhya Pradesh on Monday afternoon, beginning its advance through the southern districts of Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, and Burhanpur. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhopal confirmed the onset and predicted that the state capital would likely witness its first monsoon showers by June 20.
This year, the monsoon has arrived just a day later than the state's average onset date of June 15. In comparison, 2023 saw a significantly delayed arrival on June 21, nearly a week behind schedule.
