New Delhi, Sept. 7 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday "deeply" appreciated US President Donald Trump's "positive assessment" of the India-US partnership, in a social media post that comes amid growing trade and geopolitical tensions between the two democracies.

Modi's remarks followed Trump's comments at a press conference in Washington, where the American president hailed the "special relationship" between India and the US and reaffirmed his personal rapport with the Indian Prime Minister - even as he voiced disapproval of some of India's recent actions.
