Aizwal, July 14 -- A major milestone in India's railway history is on the brink of realisation as a train will soon reach Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, for the first time. The construction of the 51.38-km railway line from Bairabi to Sairang has been completed and the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has granted approval for operations following a successful trial run conducted on May 1, 2025.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate this landmark project in September 2025.
