Bokaro, June 4 -- A minor incident occurred yesterday afternoon at Bokaro Steel Plant's SMS-2 unit. During routine operations, a small quantity of hot metal accidentally spilled onto the shop floor. While attempting to cool it with water spray, steam was generated, which came in contact with a few nearby workers.

Contrary to earlier assumptions, the workers were not directly exposed to hot metal but sustained minor burns due to the steam. Four workers were taken to Bokaro General Hospital for preliminary check-up and treatment and were released shortly thereafter. One additional worker, who also did not suffer any serious burns, was kept under observation and discharged by evening.
