Lucknow, June 13 -- Attitudes toward menstruation are gradually shifting, with more young women now speaking openly about periods and prioritising hygiene.

This encouraging trend has emerged from a recent survey conducted by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow.

The survey, led by Professor Sujata Deo, covered 200 adolescent girls and young women with an average age of 20.

It revealed that 74 per cent of participants were comfortable discussing menstruation - a clear sign that social silence around the issue is beginning to break.
