Bhopal, April 23 -- A massive fire broke out at a dumping yard in the Adampur area on the outskirts of Bhopal on Tuesday afternoon, causing widespread panic as thick smoke billowed into the sky, visible from several kilometers away. The incident raised environmental and health concerns among residents living in nearby localities.
According to civic officials, the fire is suspected to have been triggered by the accumulation of methane gas generated from decomposing waste materials, combined with the intense heat prevailing in the region. The Ahmedpur landfill is a key site where waste from a significant portion of Bhopal city is collected and deposited.
