Dharamshala/Una, May 12 -- Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, the valiant soldier of the 25 Punjab Regiment who laid down his life in the line of duty during a Pakistani shelling incident in the border district of Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated with full state honours on Sunday at his native village Shahpur in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district.
A wave of grief swept through the region as hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their last respects to the 48-year-old braveheart. The emotionally-charged farewell ceremony witnessed poignant scenes as his young son lit the funeral pyre, amid echoing slogans of "Subedar Major Pawan Kumar Amar Rahe" and "Pakistan Murdabad", capturing the sorrow and anger of a grieving nation.
