Kolkata, July 14 -- In a freak yet horrific accident, a daily commuter traveling by Kolkata tube railways on Saturday was literally sandwiched to death between a coach and the tunnel walls after his palm got trapped between the sliding doors which refused to open and he was dragged at least a hundred metre inside the tunnel.
The train which should otherwise have stopped on the doors not locking fully continued to speed away as the censors would not work properly.
The passengers inside the bogey tried to push the trapped person out so as to save him from being dragged failed in their effort as the 40-year-old victim identified as Sajal Kanjilal kept on shouting and shrieking till his voice faded into silence.
