Garhwa, May 27 -- On Sunday night, a 55-year-old man was murdered in Barwahi village, within the Ranka police station area of the district, as a result of a land dispute. It is believed the victim was killed with an axe.

Upon receiving notification of the incident, police officers arrived at the location on Monday morning. They took the body into custody for a post-mortem examination in Garhwa.

Station in-charge Chetan Kumar Singh stated that initial investigations indicated the deceased, named as Mudrika Yadav, had a protracted land dispute with members of his family. On Sunday night, he was sleeping near the cattle in a cowshed, located a short distance from his residence.
