RAIPUR, Feb. 26 -- Chhattisgarh Police on Thursday arrested a 38-year-old man for stealing '2.5 lakh from a cash counter at the Jai Stambh Chowk branch of a nationalized bank here.

Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav told The Pioneer that N. Krishna Raju Reddy was a resident of Bhilai in Durg district.

On February 19, an Assistant General Manager of the bank lodged a case of theft against an unidentified person.

Based on CCTV footage, police found that the accused took away a bundle of 500 currency notes of '500 totaling '2.50 lakh from cash counter number 1.

Police recovered '1.50 in cash, a mobile phone and a bike (CG-07 BU 7375) used in the crime.
