Kolkata, Aug. 19 -- Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced a one-year rehabilitation package worth Rs 5,000 for the disgruntled migrant workers returning home jobless from various corners of the country in the wake of stepped up vigil against Bangladeshi infiltrators - which the Trinamool Congress condemns as "targeted persecution" of the Bengali-speaking populace.
Curiously the Chief Minister's announcement comes almost in tandem with State Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari quoting from a Haryana Government report that a large majority of people who had been picked up by the police in that State hailed from Bangladesh.
