Mumbai, March 11 -- As it presented a '45,892 crore revenue deficit budget for the year 2025-26, the BJP-led MahaYuti government on Monday kept on hold its poll promise of increasing the quantum of assistance under the "Mukhya Mantri Ladki Bahin Yojana" from ' 1,500 to ' 2,100 per woman per month, even as it proposed to mop up an additional revenue of ' 1,125 crore through fresh taxation measures.

Presenting a budget with a total outlay of ' 7,00,020 crore, Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar made an allocation of ' 36,000 crore for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Laadki Bahin scheme. However, there was no mention of the proposed hike from ' 1500 to ' 2100 each per month for the beneficiaries in the budgetary proposals.
