Bhopal, June 22 -- The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has launched a formal investigation into former Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and former CEO of the State Livelihood Mission, Lalit Mohan Belwal, over alleged involvement in a Rs 500 crore corruption scam linked to nutrition food and welfare schemes. The inquiry follows a complaint filed by Congress leader and former MLA Paras Saklecha.
The allegations pertain to financial irregularities in nutrition and related schemes implemented across eight districts between 2018-19 and 2021-22. A report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), tabled in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in March 2025, had already flagged irregularities amounting to Rs 481.79 crore during this period.
