Bhopal, April 16 -- In a bid to enhance women and childcare services, Katju Hospital in the state capital is being accorded a major upgrade. The transformation is part of the government's Mission 2030 initiative to strengthen public health infrastructure.
The move aligns with the NITI Aayog's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Report 2024, which calls for urgent reforms. Madhya Pradesh currently records 173 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births and 51 child deaths per 1,000 - both above national targets.
To steer the upgrade, Dr Rachna Dubey, Director of IEC, has been appointed nodal officer, while Dr Balram Upadhyay has taken charge as the hospital's new superintendent.
