New Delhi, July 20 -- In a first-of-its-kind display of judicial solidarity for environmental causes, 20 Judges of the Supreme Court of India, led by Chief Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, joined the Delhi Government's Van Mahotsav 2025, to plant saplings in memory of their mothers under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign at the PBG Ground in Delhi Ridge
Speaking on the occasion, Gavai on Saturday said forests do not belong to us alone but to future generations and stressed the need to strike a balance between development and environmental preservation. The dedicated green space has been formally named as "Nyay Vatika" - a living testament to the judiciary's commitment to environmental justice and intergenerational responsibility.
