India, Nov. 13 -- The Delhi Government on Wednesday approved the inclusion of freedom fighter Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Koli in its scheme for Commemoration of Birth and Death Anniversaries of Eminent Personalities. The decision was cleared at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Under the scheme, events are organised to honour national icons such as Dr BR Ambedkar, Sant Ravidas, Maharishi Valmiki, Sant Kabir, Sant Gadge Maharaj and Sant Durbal Nath. With the latest decision, Jhalkari Bai Koli's name has been added to the list. The scheme, run by the Department for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, provides financial support to registered NGOs to organise commemorative events. T...
