Jammu, May 30 -- Residents of Rehari Colony in Jammu, reeling from the destruction caused by Pakistani shelling earlier this month, have expressed outrage over the Government's offer of Rs 6,500 in compensation for their heavily damaged homes, with many calling the amount "a joke" that fails to address their substantial losses.

The shelling, which occurred on May 10 as part of escalated tensions following India's Operation Sindoor, left a trail of destruction in Rehari and nearby areas like Roop Nagar.

As many as 18 civilians lost their lives and nearly 2,000 structures, including residential houses and commercial buildings, were damaged in the indiscriminate shelling by the Pakistan Army in four days from May 7 along the borders in Jammu...
