New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- In a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at resetting strained ties, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting, part of a two-day visit by Wang, sets the stage for the 24th round of boundary talks between the two nations' Special Representatives.
Opening the bilateral dialogue, Jaishankar acknowledged the recent "difficult period" in India-China relations but stressed the importance of moving forward through a "candid and constructive approach."
