India, May 16 -- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed that the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) will remain in abeyance until Pakistan ends cross-border terrorism in a credible and irreversible manner. This came after reports suggesting Pakistan's willingness to discuss India's concerns about the treaty. Jaishankar emphasized that India's dealings with Pakistan would remain strictly bilateral, based on national consensus. He also highlighted that any future talks with Pakistan would focus solely on terrorism, urging Pakistan to shut down terrorist infrastructure. Jaishankar also noted the damage caused to Pakistani military sites during India's Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in May 2025.
