BHOPAL, Feb. 19 -- A day after the District Collector sought the immediate removal of encroachments from public spaces in the state capital, a key service lane right opposite his office remained lost to haphazard parking, illegal extensions, and municipal apathy.
The entire stretch of the lane, which starts opposite the Tehsil office and ends at the Fitness Centre run by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), is used as a private parking space by commercial establishments.
At one point, hundreds of two-wheelers stand on a part of the lane outside an automobile dealership. An electricity transformer, placed across the lane, blocks traffic and even forces pedestrians to risk their lives by walking on the main road. Accidents are not uncomm...
