Mumbai, May 29 -- In a formal announcement that marked the commencement of commercial flights from the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), IndiGo said on Wednesday that it would be the first private airline to operate commercial flights from the NMIA.

Ahead of the formal commissioning of the NMIA which will be thrown open to flight operations in the coming weeks, IndiGo and Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL) entered into a tie-up that will facilitate the leading private airline to operate inaugural flights from the new Greenfield airport.
