India, Jan. 17 -- Amid a rapidly evolving security situation in Iran, the Indian Government has advised nearly 9,000 Indian nationals currently in the country to leave at the earliest using any available means. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday that it is closely monitoring developments and remains committed to the safety and well-being of Indian citizens. Responding to queries about Indians in Iran, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that around 9,000 Indian citizens are presently residing there, most of whom are students. He said the Government has issued multiple advisories in recent days in view of the changing ground situation.
