India, May 30 -- India's rapid economic expansion and urban transformation have fueled an unprecedented rise in energy demand. One of the most visible outcomes of this growth is the surge in electricity consumption, which has climbed from 136 gigawatts (GW) in 2013-14 to 243 GW in 2023-24. On May 30, 2024, the country recorded an all-time high of 250 GW in peak power demand. This trend shows no sign of slowing, with a major contributor being the increasing need for cooling solutions amid rising temperatures and expanding urban populations.
