India, Oct. 4 -- Responding to questions on the ongoing unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which has entered its fifth day, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India on Friday said the violence and deaths now unfolding in PoK are a "natural consequence of Pakistan's oppressive approach" towards its own population in the region.
"We have seen reports of widespread protests and brutal crackdowns by Pakistani forces on innocent civilians in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This is the direct result of Islamabad's continued neglect and suppression of the region. Pakistan must be held accountable for these horrific human rights violations," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a weekly briefing.
