India, March 10 -- Macabre carnality in Hampi

Hampi, a UNESCO world heritage site in Karnataka, is in the news for wrong reasons as two women including an Israeli tourist, were raped at knifepoint by a group of local persons who robbed their mobile phones and Rs 9,500 cash late Thursday night.

An Orissa youth Bipash, who was with the victims at the time of attack, was bashed up by the group and thrown into Thungabhadra Canal. His body was recovered on Friday morning while two friends of the victims jumped into the canal and swam to safety. One of the victim was a US citizen while the other person was from Nashik in Maharashtra.
