New Delhi, March 29 -- Months after holding the Malabar series of naval exercises involving four Quad countries India, US, Japan and Australia off the Indian coast, India and the US on Sunday commenced a two-day naval exercise in the eastern Indian Ocean Region.

This exercise reflected the growing congruence in the US and India defence and military partnership, officials said here on Sunday. The Indian Navy deployed its warship Shivalik and long-range maritime patrol aircraft P8I in the 'PASSEX' exercise while the US Navy wa represented by the USS Theodore Rosevelt carrier strike group, they said.
