DEHRADUN, Feb. 11 -- A delegation of the INDI Alliance and civil society met the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh at Rajbhawan on Saturday. The delegation demanded that a judicial probe or inquiry by a High Court judge should be ordered to investigate the recent Haldwani violence. The delegation was led by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara who had visited the affected areas of Vanbhulpura in Haldwani on Friday. Mahara requested the governor to intervene to restore peace and communal harmony in the State.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the governor on the occasion. The leaders in the memorandum said that a free and fair inquiry is needed to find the cause of the violence of such a large scale....
