Mathura, May 16 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative modeled on the Indian Premier League (IPL), Uttar Pradesh has launched the "Jail Premier League" (JPL) to promote physical fitness, reduce mental stress and channel the hidden talents of prison inmates. The inaugural edition kicked off at the Mathura district jail, where inmates took to the cricket field in full spirit and sportsmanship.
Organised by the prison administration, the JPL is more than just a cricket tournament - it is a step towards reform, rehabilitation, and reintegration of prisoners. The league aims to instill discipline, teamwork, and positivity among inmates while offering them a much-needed break from the monotony of prison life.
