Shimla, Feb. 14 -- To address the increasing frequency of landslides in Himachal Pradesh, the State Government is introducing a bio-engineering initiative to curb this problem. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Thursday. He said a pilot project has been initiated to cultivate Vetiver grass, known for its deep and dense root system that stabilizes soil and prevents erosion.
In a statement, he said "Vetiver grass is widely used worldwide for soil conservation, particularly in landslide-prone areas, highway embankments and riverbanks.
