Shimla, May 12 -- In a significant pro-people move, the Himachal Pradesh Government on Sunday announced continued billing for water supply at rural tariffs for the next three years in the newly-constituted and upgraded Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The decision is aimed at ensuring a smooth transition for residents of areas recently merged into ULBs, providing relief to 47,820 consumers across the state. Alongside the water tariff rebate, these residents have also been exempted from property tax, a government spokesperson said in a statement issued on Sunday.
