RAIPUR, Feb. 17 -- Chhattisgarh Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said on Friday that the Health Department will fill over 5,000 vacant posts through the Public Service Commission and Vyapam.

Speaking at the Assembly, he said: "The recruitment of medical officers and specialist doctors has commenced.

"As part of the National Health Mission Scheme, MBBS and specialist doctors will be given a posting within 24 hours of applying.

"A total of 256 MBBS graduates have been appointed as medical officers and 21 doctors as specialists. About half of them have been posted in Bastar and Surguja divisions."

He added that the department was continuously taking initiatives to provide quality healthcare, especially in remote regions.
