India, Jan. 15 -- The wait for high-speed connectivity between East and South Delhi is set to get longer as the Delhi Government sets the Barapullah phase-3 completion deadline to 2027.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has also informed the Delhi government that the delay in completion and the increase in construction costs of the project - connecting Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar - were due to factors "beyond its control".

Phase III of the Barapullah elevated road project, extending from Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar, received in-principle approval from the Delhi cabinet in Sept 2011 and was later approved by the LG-chaired UTTIPEC in 2013.
