Ranchi, May 10 -- The Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare has written to all Deputy Commissioners and Civil Surgeons of the State that it has been brought to the notice of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India through a relevant letter that some hospitals/health facilities are refusing to hand over the bodies of deceased persons to their relatives after treatment on the ground that their bills are pending. The act of hospitals/health facilities causes unnecessary mental agony to the bereaved family members and disregards ethical and human principles.
