Bhopal, May 18 -- An 18-year-old Class XII student from Aishbagh's Housing Board Colony took her own life by hanging herself on Friday evening, reportedly due to depression following failure in her board examinations.

Shivani Sen, who had recently received her Class XII results and failed, was alone at home with her mother when she hanged herself around 7 PM. Her mother discovered the scene and, with the help of neighbors, rushed her to Hamidia Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations indicate academic failure as a possible motive, but Aishbagh police SHO VBS Sengar said that all angles are being investigated, noting that no suicide note was found at the scene.
