Garhwa, April 2 -- Garhwa district commemorated its 35th anniversary on 1 April. The district was established on 1 April 1991, having been separated from the Palamu district.

In the three and a half decades since its inception, Garhwa has made considerable developmental progress, transforming its previous reputation and achieving advancements across numerous sectors. Historically, Garhwa was often linked to issues such as poverty, hunger, unemployment, deaths related to starvation, drought, famine, migration, Naxalism, child bonded labour, and illiteracy.
