Garhwa, Feb. 14 -- Garhwa district in Jharkhand has been awarded Rs 3 crore by the NITI Aayog. The district topped the NITI Aayog's performance index for aspirational districts. This award recognises the district's outstanding performance in agriculture and water resources management.

The NITI Aayog's Aspirational Districts Programme aims to improve development in lagging districts across India. The programme monitors districts in five key areas: education, health and nutrition, infrastructure, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development. Districts that perform well receive additional funding to help them develop further.
